A question

Zoiks, it's the weekend! Well, the mini-weekend. I'm off Monday, but have to head back to work on Tuesday. Oh well, I'll have to make the most of my Monday. Errands like laundry, dry cleaning, and work shopping await. Oh joy.

And on a totally unrelated topic, I have a question for you.

Friends or Seinfeld?

3 Comments:

  • Without a doubt, Seinfeld. Friends' appeal was it's pop culture-ness. Watching it will always remind us of the 90's (like how that damn Rachel haircut created hair grief for those of us with unruly hair). Friends story line and jokes got so weak at the end, I surely can't be the only one who eventually didn't give a damn if Rachel and Ross got together again (and again and again).
Where as Seinfeld went out as funny as it came in.
Friends will always be on in reruns, but I think more for the nostalgia factor.
Seinfeld will always be on because it was damn smart, different, and ruthlessly un-P.C. (every show insulted somebody).
OK Friends, I'm ready your wrath...Comments?

  • Uma: I was hoping to get a comment from you! I know nobody as passionate about either show as you are about Jerry et al.

Of course, am I wrong in saying that even Seinfeld can't hold a candle to Kids In The Hall in your books?

And -- for the record -- it's most certainly Friends for me. The early seasons of Seinfeld were unlike anything else I'd ever seen. But after a few seasons, it just seemed to be the same and the same again. And I agree with you about the late-season storylines on Friends, but the first 6 or 7 seasons made me realize that I just could not live without those damn characters in my life. And it still pains me that I haven't seen the final 15 minutes of the last-ever show. Ugh.

    Anyone else?

  • ok, I really was a huge Friends fan, you know, back in the day. Can't deny that I wanted to be their friend too....The Kids, now there's comedy!!! :-)
But I also love America's Funniest Home Vidoes and my favourite comedy movies are things like The Jerk, Brain Candy, Fast Times, and Revenge of the Nerds - so much for my validity as a critic.
